Tiny Moments Day 11

My Mom and Aunt Sue came to visit us this weekend, so I imagine I'll get caught up on all my tiny moments! I had such a great batch to choose from today that I could only narrow it down to three. We loaded Brielle and Kutter in the car for a day of shopping in Boise. We all have plenty to show for it, but I think Brielle came away with the very best souvenir of the day -- This too cute bikini that means summer better hurry up and get here!We had been in Boise for nearly 6 hours when Kutter finally crawled into the basket underneath the stroller and fell immediately asleep. This poor stroller was now carrying Brielle, the diaper bag, three purses and all of our purchases. Apparently, this is too much for a stroller that is currently serving it's third child! We came to a screaching halt as the back wheel fell off and quickly rolled away! If you've ever seen me when I get slap-happy, picture me, Sue and Mom in the middle of the mall giggling like children and struggling to haul this humongous mess to the nearest exit. Kutter slept through the entire thing! (and, yes, we stopped at three more stores before we finally made it out!)Brielle's favorite moment of the day was probably finding one of those three-sided mirrors outside of the dressing room. She entertained herself forever with noticing how cute all three of her were, and even delivering quite a few kisses!

Tiny Moments Day 10

Last night, I actually got the kids to bed all by myself just in time to watch the end of Pride and Prejudice. I sat in my living room all alone, surrounded by my laundry, and just grinned at my tv. Yeah, I'm a nerd, but it was bliss!

Tiny Moments Day 9

This post is for my mom! You see, Breje came home from school the other day and informed me that she had 2 days to build a volcano! 2 days! Of course, she was given the assignment about a week earlier, but she waited to tell me until Jody was out of town, two of my kids were sick, and I was babysitting three extra kids! Sound like anyone you know, Mom? Yeah, I would've yelled more than I did, but I have too many of my own memories of mom bailing me out at the last minute.Fortunately for her, she's as good at convincing everyone to pitch-in as I was. I have to admit that it was kind of cute to watch these three working together! (If your're wondering about the blow-dryer -- apparently three layers of clay takes longer than two days to dry!)
These pictures were just too sweet not to share!

Tiny Moments Day 8

This post was supposed to be so easy for me today because I thought I had already chosen the moment that would make me smile the most. I was way excited to go to lunch with a group of friends (thanks for getting a tiny bit older, Angie!) and I promised myself a pic of the whole bunch of us with giant grins. Afterall, what makes us ladies smile more than getting out of the house for yummy food and girl talk?!

It just so happens, as it often does when you have kids, that I had absolutley no time for taking pictures. I spent almost the entire time running kids to the bathroom, mopping up their spills, and changing poopy diapers (not to mention poopy pants and poopy shirts!) I barely had time to scarf down my food -- somehow I managed-- so no pictures for this post. (consider yourselves lucky!) Instead, my tiny moment was the realization that motherhood means that nothing really ever goes according to plan...
and when chaos ensues, you just have to smile!

Tiny Moments Day 7

"Happy is the house that shelters a friend" -- Ralph Waldo Emerson

I think my parents house must be absolutely giddy! We got to spend an entire weekend there with the fam, and it was just so much fun that my way overdue tiny moment just has to be the whole darn weekend!

This sweet ballerina greeted me at the door the moment we arrived! Definately a sign that this would be a good weekend!
We ate tons of good food, played games, and spent tons of time watching the kids play!
Brielle loved this little horse, and would cry whenever we let it stop rocking. What a turkey!

I think Travis caught Tray during his only quiet time all weekend! He is so lucky to have the friendships he has with his uncles!
Hayley wasn't kidding when she said it was hard to catch a picture of Sienna! Apparently this is the only one I got! That kid knows how to play hard!
Simon spent most of his time following Trayson around, but he and Kutter are starting to develope a sweet friendship of their own! It was so fun to witness their nonsense conversations!
All in all, the weekend was a pretty big hit with all of us (except the part when Brielle got sick -- sorry Hay!) As worn-out as we all are, the kids are already asking when we get to go back!

Tiny Moments Day 6

My tiny moment came early this morning when my husband surprised me with these pretty flowers. He worked till 10:00 last night, so I have no idea when he found time to buy these. He's working late tonight so I was kind of thinking this Valentine's Day would be a none-holiday for us--the flowers were an extra sweet surprise since I was planning on Nothing!

I so appreciate my husband for finding a way to always put his family first! He has a full-time job, a part-time job (Idaho Guard) a busy church calling, plays every sport imagineable, and still finds a way to make sure we are his number one priority! He helps around the house, listens to my endless chatter, and plays with the kids every chance he gets!
I love you, Jody!

This is the joy I get to witness everytime Brielle eats! I love that she enjoys her food so much. (She gets it from me!) No matter how much mess it creates, it always makes me...Smile!

Love Story
I feel like everyone's sick of me being tagged, but this one was fun!

What is your husbands full name: Jody Kim Wolfley
Howlong have you guys been together: Wow! Next month we'll have been married 14 years!
How long did you date: It was about a year, including our engagement.
How old is he: 36. Old fogey.
Who eats more: I'm gonna say Jody, but we have a pretty good competition going!
Who said I love you first: Jody. Then I left him hangin for a couple weeks! (He said it as he was leaving my house, and I just shut the door! I was only 17 and it kinda freaked me out!)
Who is taller: Is there anyone shorter than me?
Who is smarter: Clearly, Jody.
Who does the laundry: I do, but he pretty much had to teach me how!
Who does the dishes: I do most of the time, but he helps!
Who sleeps on the right side of the bed: I do.
Who pays the bills: Mostly me.
Who mows the lawn: Always Jody! It is one of the few things I refuse to do!
Who cooks dinner: Mostly me, but Jody's a pretty good cook!
Who drives when you are together: Jody always drives. He hates it when I drive!
Who is more stubborn: Jody.
Who kissed who first: Jody kissed me first. I had the whisker burns to prove it!
Who asked who out first: Jody, although, technically, Jody's sister asked me out for him! He, apparently, needed a date at the last minute and I was the first girl who popped into his head, so he asks his sister to call me (I'm not sure he even knew my name. I think I was her "short friend"). I was kinda ticked he didn't call himself, but I was already crazy about him so I couldnl't resist!
Who proposed: Jody.
Who has more siblings: Jody --- he's the oldest of ten!
Who wears the pants in our family: Jody! Anyone who knows me knows that I HATE to be in charge!

Tiny Moments Day 5

This is one of my favorite moments every day. Breje and Trayson are always happy when they get off the bus. It seems like it takes them forever to get home, and we are always dying to see them by the time they get here. We usually take a moment to pause and smile before we dive into homework, chores, dinner, piano, and errands!

Tiny Moments Day 4

Yeah. I'm cheating. This is yesterday's tiny moment! This may seem silly, but for one brief moment, my house was silent. There was no computer, no cartoons, no sugar. Their mouths were too full to argue with each other. It didn't last long (I should've bought larger apples!) but it was bliss! And, yes, it made me smile!

Tiny Moments Day 3

Brielle is such a show-off! Even when we get her all dressed-up, all she wants to do is play "daredevil" with Daddy!
(Hayley, are you desperate to cut her hair yet?)

Tiny Moments Day2

This has to be one of my very favorite moments of each day. "Peaceful" isn't exactly Brielle's middle name. This little bug doesn't stop moving from the moment she wakes up, so I especially treasure that sweet moment when she finally slips off to dreamland!

Tiny Moments Day 1

Warning: I know I usually tend to ramble, but this one is really a doozie!

I think these are supposed to be sweet, but I have an inordinate amount of embarrassing moments everyday, so I thought I'd start with one of those. It's my selfless little way to remind everyone that no matter how tough your day was, at least you are more on-the-ball than me! (Hayley, I hope it makes you laugh the second time around!)

It started yesterday, when I was trying to be extra prepared to host book club tonight. I've been dying for an excuse to bake Turtle Cake and decided that would be an easy dessert to bake ahead of time. It's very simple. Prepare a cake mix. Bake half the batter for 18 minutes, cover with caramel mixture, chocolate chips, and nuts, then cover with the remaining batter and finish baking. How could I mess that up?

VERY EASILY! The first 18 minutes went by and the first thing I noticed is that the cake was still pretty runny. Apparently, I forgot to reserve half the batter for later! I must have been pretty distracted with trying to find a solution because when I tried to slide it back into the oven, I somehow dumped the entire cake into my oven! Half-baked cake is extremely messy! To make matters worse, I barely had time to react when the doorbell rang and Brielle woke up! I ran to the door (Yeah, the oven is still on, covered in chocolate cake, with the oven door half open!) to let Breje in (She'd been at a friends house) and ordered her to get Brielle out of bed. I smiled and chatted with her friend's mom, then rushed into the kitchen, still with no clue of how to clean the dang thing up! Before I even had a chance to figure it out, the doorbell rang again. Her friends car was stuck! It took us about 30 minutes to dig her out. By that time, a large portion of the cake was burned to a crisp, but a bunch more was still dripping into the drawer below (you know, the one FULL of pans!) To make matters worse, being the woman that I am, I am still determined to bake Turtle Cake! Jody was working till late, so I put Breje in charge of the boys, threw Brielle in the car, and went clear to Walmart just to buy another cake mix! I was still so flustered that I paid for it and almost got out the door without it! It's seriously amazing that the second try actually turned-out!

T R O U B L E !

Brielle is immensely proud of her newfound ability to crawl -- and it's completely wearing us out. No matter where we put her toys, she plays with them for a few moments and then she's off to whereever it seems like it will drive mommy most crazy! She's great at finding little spots that are tough to get out of, but underneath the tv is one of her very favorite spots. She climbs in there and just laughs at us! This is the sweet face that we get when we tell her "no"! Yeah, we're in for some trouble!

REAL Snow!

We actually had a real blizzard in Mountain home on Saturday night. It just kept snowing and the wind was blowing like crazy! I woke up expecting to see our house half-buried, but I looked out the window and most of the grass looked completely bare. I was disappointed, but figured the wind had made it appear more wintry than it really was. Then Jody tried to leave for work . . . He just hopped in the truck and backed-out, only to find that he was completely snowed-in. The snow in our driveway was up past his bumper! It seems that the wind did crazy things with our snow and piled it all right in our driveway! It took him over 1 1/2 hours to dig himself out!
Since the kids missed all the hard work, they thoroughly enjoyed the snow. It was the first snow we've experienced here that would actually pack hard enough to build a snowman so . . .
. . . my children built our whole family out of snow! (Brielle is the teeny, tiny one just below Trayson's right hand!) If you look at the background of this picture, you can see that there was almost no snow under our windows, but two feet away was enough to snow us in! Even normal winter weather is nuts here!

Trayson's First Basketball Game

Trayson had his first-ever basketball game on Saturday. It was so much fun to watch! Most of the kids his age couldn't even remember that they were supposed to dribble the ball, but we were so proud of how well Trayson did. He's got great ball control for someone who is just starting, and he doesn't stop running the entire time!

Guilty Pleasures

Ok, this one's for Amy, because I SO appreciate her giving me hints about how to get out of my blogging slump!

Guilty pleasure #1: Staying up late. I know that Brielle is likely to wake me up at least once during the night. I know that I'll have to get up the next day at 6:00 am to get the kids ready for school. I know there's tons of reasons I'm gonna need energy the next day, but somehow, around 11:00 at night, these facts no longer seem to register in my head! I will do anything to stay up just a little longer. Years ago this was less of a problem but it seems that I am getting older!

Guilty pleasure #2: Reading. This doesn't sound like something to be guilty about, but reading becomes an obsession with me. Chores don't get done, dinner burns, kids try to kill each other, but I read on. I don't even have to really like the book -- if I have read the first page, the book demands to be finished. I can only think of one book that I have ever read and not been unable to put down. (If any of you have ever read "Ulyssess", you know, past the first three pages, I'd love to hear about it!)

Guilty pleasure #3: Long hair bands. I know now, that my Dad was right. They really are just screaming. Also, now that I am older and less naive, I know WHAT they are screaming. I still can't help listening and getting a little nostalgic for the 80's every once in awhile.

Guilty pleasure #4: I think I should have a whole post for foods that I totally enjoy that I shouldn't, but the most embarrassing is my love of greasy foods. Most adults only go through the drive thru when they are in a huge hurry or treating the kids. I have to fight myself not to drive through every time I pass them. I will eat anything fried. I will think up things to fry. I even love the smell. I can see that this is thoroughly disgusting, but there you have it!
